back for fall from a pause to get hitched.

whoa! that was a long break! i had no idea my last post was canada day..

i feel guilty for the pause but it couldn’t be helped, the summer was completely consumed with wedding planning, lots of celebrating, not one but two ceremonies, wedding dress making (pics soon to come) and a gulf island hopping honeymoon adventure with my man. yes, i am married! and it was a summer more wonderful than i could have ever imagined.

now the leaves are turning, there is a new chill in the air and i am back at it in the studio, overflowing with ideas and inspiration. as much as i don’t want the summer to end the vision of pretty dresses with wooly tights and big, hand knit, chunky scarves is something to look forward to. this is one of those dresses i insert into that vision.

more to come soon, it’s nice to be back!

fishtails for summer.

i love fishtails, i always have, for some of my summer pieces i am playing around with different ways to weave them into my designs. this necklace is made from many strands of rayon tape and has beads carved from tagua nut woven into it. i would love to see this on the beach with a cream coloured crocheted bikini. fishtails and bikinis for summer please.

a little black dress

a little black dress is always in need. i found this beautiful piece of fabric that has a water-like draping quality and decided to keep it nice and simple. i am really into the neckline, it has an understated sexiness to it. simple. sexy. black

this piece is bias cut, draped and hand sewn from a rayon/poly/silk blend fabric.

fits sizes 4-8

the piece is black black in person, not charcoal.

calla

hi,

so i have been working quite slowly and meticulously lately, i have been focusing on very detailed, more labour intensive pieces. i haven’t been doing this on purpose it’s just what has been coming out of me. every time i go to start a piece that is supposed to be simple and ‘quick’- under 15 hours- it turns into something far more complicated. i’m not sure how long i have been plugging away at this piece, but it’s finally finished and i think it’s quite a lovely start to my spring work.

my newest for spring- calla. this piece is draped, sculpted, then hand sewn from 100% ramie cloth.

genevieve graham vs the genie’s.

hi there!  it has been far too long… i have been involved in other projects and have been inadvertently neglecting this site, sorry! but i am so happy to finally have something to post and to be back. here is my latest piece..

i did this piece for the very talented canadian actress sonja bennett, who was a best supporting actress nominee yesterday at the genie awards.  this dress took around 65 hours and nearly pushed me to the edge of insanity but i am happy to see she looked stunning last night, made all the work worth it. there is a ton of detail in the dress which you cannot see here, i will post more detailed shots soon..

promise it won’t be so long before the next post! xogg
